Our vision

“de Stad”, is an industrial area in Oirschot. The western tip of the area is to be transformed into a residential area. The municipality of Oirschot is part of Brainport Eindhoven area, this after Schiphol and Rotterdam, is the third major economic hub in the Netherlands.

The economic requirements of contemporary construction are combined with the relevant social questions of our time. How can we promote a sense of community through the structural configuration? How can we anchor serial housing construction in local historical contexts?

Our approach

The residential program is spread over four buildings, opening the site to the outside and integrating the new ensemble into the surroundings. The three main buildings are connected by a living gallery. This open gallery is accessible to all residents. This is the place where people meet. Various activities for different age groups are stimulated here. Playing on the lowest level, sitting in the sun or shade on the in between levels, and gardening in the greenhouse on the top. The theme of the open gallery is also recognizable on the short sides of the buildings. Here are the south-facing terraces of the large family apartments and the escape routes combined.

The fourth building consist of 8 friends apartments. Each resident has a private bedroom. Four bedrooms together are connected to a small communal kitchen / dining / living area. The wide south-facing gallery adjoins the living area. The place to be in summer.
