Vinoly, Amsterdam Zuidas
A solid reception
Office
Vision
The Vinoly tower is one of the characteristic towers of the Amsterdam Zuidas skyline. The new lobby of the Vinoly tower – which houses the local headquarters of some major-league tenants, such as Google – is designed as an integral part of the existing architecture. The need for more stringent security requirements was taken as opportunity to create a “restrained, but sound” design.
Approach
The heightened security demands called for the reorganisation of the access facilities, along with additional security control. The reception desk is now in the form of an elongated bar, which morphs seamlessly from a waiting area/coffee bar to a three-workplace reception desk. Crafted from Belgium blue stone, the bar-desk blends perfectly with the floor, commanding an undeniable presence for itself. The blue stone is bush hammered to texturize it at the front and polished on top, bringing out the richness and sheer solidness of this material.
